Home sweet home

The SA ladies team played out their last two games with a bitter-sweet results against Iceland and New Zealand.

Dalene Rhone scores the first goal of the game against Iceland on a power-play early in the first period with the team looking good. 2nd and 3rd period was not so fantastic as they went down 2 and 3 goals respectively. Final score for this game was 1-5.
Donne Oxenham was awarded the Best player award for this game with yet another solid performance under her belt.

The final game against New Zealand started off in a similar fashion and by the end of the first period SA was only down by 1 goal with score of 2-1, again on the power-play Dalene Rhode was the sniper.
2nd period saw New Zealand gain a steady lead with 2 unanswered goals and 3 in the final period but with a comeback goal from Dominique Verway to bring the final score to 7-2 in favour of the New Zealanders. Shaylene Swanepoel was awarded the Best play with 54 shots against.

The team will be traveling back to South Africa in the next couple days after a decent tournament, although no games were won, these girls have done their country proud and this would definitely be something to build on for the following tournament.
